IPL Photofacial Pre-Operative Guidelines
- Avoid Sun Exposure: Minimize sun exposure and tanning beds for four weeks before the treatment to prevent excessive pigmentation and reduce the risk of complications.
- Refrain from Self-Tanning Products: Stop using sprays, lotions, or tanning beds for at least four weeks before your session. These can interfere with treatment accuracy and lead to uneven results.
- Inform About Medications: Discuss all medications and supplements with your specialist. Some may increase photosensitivity and might need to be temporarily discontinued.
- Avoid Blood-Thinning Medications: Consult with your specialist about stopping aspirin, ibuprofen, and blood thinners to decrease the risk of bruising and bleeding.
- Discontinue Retinoids and Chemical Peels: Stop using retinoid creams and undergoing chemical peels at least one week before the treatment to reduce skin sensitivity.
- Skin Preparation: Follow your provider’s instructions for skin prep, which may include avoiding exfoliation or harsh skincare products in the treatment area a few days before the procedure.
- Shave the Treatment Area: Shave the area one day before your session for effective IPL light targeting.
- Cleanse and Remove Makeup: Cleanse your face thoroughly and remove all makeup, creams, lotions, or oils from the treatment area for optimal light penetration.
- Stay Hydrated: Drink adequate water in the days leading up to the treatment. Hydrated skin responds better and minimizes discomfort.
- Arrive with Clean Skin: Come to your appointment with clean, makeup-free skin for the best treatment application.
Note: Adhering to these guidelines closely will enhance the effectiveness of your IPL Photofacial treatment and help achieve the best results.
